What Restrictions Are There To Eating With Invisalign?

Posted On: June 22, 2017

None, absolutely none.  The aligners are designed to be removed each time you eat or drink.  Remember that the recommended time of wear is 22 hours a day, so they should be removed only for eating and brushing.  This will keep your treatment progressing along at the right rate.  This means that you will not have to give up your love of hard, sticky or messy foods and snacks.  However, it is recommended that you always brush your teeth and trays before reinserting your Invisalign aligners for the best hygiene and freshest breath.  Here are a few important reminders:

* Smoking is discouraged if possible. It can cause staining on the aligners, teeth, and around your attachments.
* Drinking water with the aligners in is ok, but avoid drinks containing color or sugar. It can get under the aligners causing staining and higher risk for cavities.
