2. Enjoy the Outdoors

Explore everything the great outdoors has to offer. This could be an all-day activity with the family! Go on a hike, bike ride, or fly a kite! To keep the scenery different, set your mind to finding new outdoor destinations each day with new trails and paths. This could also be a great way to learn more about your community.

If the weather is nice, odds are many people will be out taking in the fresh air as well. Be mindful of safe social distancing and alway abide by park/recreation rules and regulations. Many outdoor facilities are closed during this time.

If you live in an area where sidewalks and trails aren’t close by, you can always spend an entire day outside grilling and playing water games with your kids. Set up some sprinklers on a warm spring day and they will be entertained for hours!

3. Plan and Organize a Family Cook-Off

A cook-off is a great way to engage with family members all while enjoying some tasty food during quarantine! This challenges each family member participating to bring their “A” game. Set some guidelines ahead of time and take a picture of each dish once everyone is complete. You can post pictures to your social media or sent them out to friends/family for everyone to vote on the dish that looks the most delicious!

4. Get Lost in a Jigsaw Puzzle

Buy a 500-1000 piece jigsaw puzzle and encourage your family members to help you complete it. This is a great way to get everyone involved working together to accomplish a common goal. Jigsaw puzzles require a lot of brain power, which is something many of us aren’t’ having to use a lot of during this stay-at-home order.

5. Phone a Family Member or Friend

Call, text, Facetime, or Zoom with friends or family members that you haven’t seen in a while! This will keep your spirits up and help you feel more connected.

6. Record a TikTok Dance Video Together

If you have pre-teens or teenage kids, you’ve likely heard of what TikTok is. Ask your kids to teach you their favorite TikTok dance so you can learn and practice it together (some of these dances are hard so be prepared it could take hours!) Once you’ve mastered all the steps and moves, it’s time for lights, camera, ACTION! Have your child record your dance on TikTok and you can look back at the fun memory for years to come.

Assign each family a member a designated area, room, or closet in the house to organize. 8. Create Outside Artwork

One example of a thought-provoking game would be to have every family member write down 5-10 “would you rather” questions. Once you have all your questions written out, fold them up and put them in a bowl where they can all be mixed together. Take turns pulling out questions from the bowl and learn about what your family members would rather do when presented with two different options. The crazier the questions, the more fun this game will become!
